
Of the 792,510 acres half of it is in the Mojave Desert (west side) and half in the Colorado Desert (east side).

Cholla (choy ya), Joshua trees, Junipers, Mojave yucca, and prickly pear cactus dot the landscape (find the Mickey Mouse cactus.:-)











We saw Kangaroo rats, a roadrunner a spiny lizard, and a Pinacate beetle (the ones that do a handstand when they feel threatened).

Barkers Dam hike. The rock formations were awesome! Formed by volcanic activity and after weathering and erosion they look like careless piles of toy blocks.
