We took a 6 mile hike on Canyon and Rim trail and saw 7 waterfalls! Three of the waterfalls were set up with the trail spanning behind it. That was a magical view, and feeling! Many of the falls were 200 feet high. There was only one waterfall and pool we were allowed to wade into – well, only Bob and Marin. 🙂 It was chilly!!
Interestingly this park was preserved during the Great Depression which allowed the government to take care of the land while providing jobs for those in need of work. The men took home only $25 a month. We are grateful for those that have helped preserve and work to keep the natural beauty in this country.
For the record we had an AMAZING campsite! (For future reference it was spot #37.) It was spacious, private feeling, and we had our first very successful fire! Even cooked our potato soup and a cherry dump cake!
